In Memoriam Dwight McLemore

We lost him in 2021. John Lennox says, “I haven’t had the words. Still don’t really, to express the loss of Col. Dwight McLemore. It’s finally sinking in. Acceptance is a stage of grief, but it’s a hard one to take. There are so many quotes from him I remember. One of the most important ones to me recently has been “Don’t fight their fight. Make them fight yours.” This transcends combat. This is a lesson for everyday life. I had to learn it again a year ago. I had forgotten those words at that time. I won’t ever again. He taught so many of us not just combat lessons, but life lessons, if only we would listen. My brother, Steve Huff mentioned a quote from him in a post: “Follow your bliss.” These two quotes from this man will guide my life as his teachings guide my hand.”

  • There are still no franchise fees or tithings to be an “instructor.”
  • Earning a Black Belt in 2004, doesn’t mean you are an active instructor, it just means you earned a black belt once, in 2004. It’s still a solid achievement, you did it, it’s yours forever, but remember to be “active?” You have to be…active. And one of the very few requirements to stay active on the list is to see Hock in a seminar so he knows you are active and “keeping” up with evolutions. Due to the recent craziness of Covid, certainly in foreign countries outside the USA, we have stretched the time limits out a bit, usually it’s about one year give or take two years, depending upon distance and events in one’s life.
